A young man strolls the streets of New York City to meet the love of his life, only to find that love is not all he expected it to be.
Synopsis: On a Fall evening in 1963 Brooklyn, New York, the world seemed optimistic for positive change. Still in slight shock from the recent death of John F. Kennedy, New Yorkers moved forward, hoping for the best and clinging to the innocence they still felt close to themselves.
One Young Man prepares himself for a night to remember with the woman he loved. Carrying a surprise in his jacket pocket he strolls down the streets of Brooklyn, a spring in his step and a smile on his face. The world around him seems pleased to see such happiness as passers-by notice him and smile at the warmth and the radiance of his seeming optimism. Strolling down the streets, love in his heart, he remembers all the beautiful moments he has shared with the love of his life, in his memory seeing her in passing shops and feeling her happiness in everything he passes. Stopping at a flower cart to pick up flowers for her, her favorite, the Young Man hears troubling news over the radio, a world on the brink of losing its innocence. Touching the mysterious surprise in his jacket pocket, he grows confused. But he buys her flowers and goes out into the night to find his love.
No one around him is able to tell that there is a darker secret within the Young Man's soul, one that truly reflects the beginning of a dramatic fall from innocence for himself and for the world around him. Based on the short story 'The Man Who Loved Flowers' by Stephen King.
